National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci is doing his best to provide good news to the nation during these turbulent times. His recent announcement about the testing of the first trial vaccine brought a smile to everyone’s faces. While the finished product is still a long way off, the progress offers some small form of solace.
The trials are currently taking place in Seattle. This city has been a COVID-19 hotbed for some time now. The test subjects are receiving two injections, one at the zero-day mark and one at the 28-day mark. From there, they are going to be followed for a year. The results of these trials are still a few months away.
Laura Ingraham’s recent report is also offering some hope to those who are worried about the spread of the virus. Chloroquine is a common antiviral medication that could provide some relief to those suffering from coronavirus. Studies have shown that this medication can be helpful.
Dr. Gregory Rigano co-authored the study and he was invited by Ingraham to discuss the findings in further detail. According to the study, patients who were given this medication were found to be free of the virus within days. Dr. Rigano also believes that the medication could also be used as a form of prevention.
This remarkable study is providing some much-needed hope to those who are worried about the spread of the virus. This does not mean that we should be expecting for things to go back to normal as quickly as possible. There is still a great deal of work that needs to be done before we are out of the woods.
Washing your hands and avoiding large crowds are still vitally important steps that need to be taken on an everyday basis. Everyone wants to be the hero who is able to step forward and put an end to this virus. In reality, we need to be taking the right steps regularly. This virus is not going to be defeated in the blink of an eye.
That does not mean that we should not take some small level of solace in the news that is being presented to us. Our nation’s leaders and scientists are working tirelessly to put a stop to this virus before it has a chance to cause any further damage. At this point in time, this is the best that we can hope for.
Vaccines are in the trial stage. Experts believe that it will take at least one year before they are ready for the general public. The medications that are currently available are not going to be able to meet the demand but the chloroquine progress is a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, there are those who do not trust the government to provide a vaccine that can cure the virus without causing any sort of major side effects. This is a concern that has been voiced by many and it is an understandable one. Americans are understandably skeptical of Big Pharma and their seeming desire to keep us ill, so that they can continue to receive our hard-earned money.
Concerns about the effectiveness of chloroquine for children and the elderly have been raised as well. There are no shortage of hurdles that need to be cleared before the pandemic can be fully addressed. This is a process that is going to unfold over the course of several months and anyone expecting a miracle cure to be found immediately should be tempering their expectations accordingly.
This is not the first study that is going to be performed and we are going to be told about all sorts of cures in the months to come. It’s a natural byproduct of the fear that everyone is feeling. Everyone wants to wake up and be told that things are about to go back to normal. However, this process has just begun.\
It is going to take months (if not years) before we are able to return to some form of normalcy. Those who believe that we are on the brink of a cure will need to pump the brakes a bit. The chloroquine news is a welcome respite from all of the horror stories that we are constantly being subjected to.
Let’s all do our best to use common sense here and keep from panicking. The only way that we are going to get through this is by keeping a cool head. Coronavirus needs to be taken with the utmost level of seriousness and the general public must listen to the guidelines that their local leaders are presenting.
